Ups and Downs

So, here we are, Day #365 of 2022.  The year has come to an end and, honestly, I am glad it has.  12/31/2022 was another good day (most days on this Break have been good!)  But my 2 for 2022 for tonight is still Ups and Downs.  2022 - what a year.  Some amazing things have happened.... Anna's graduation from HS, Anna's prom, Anna's move-in and 1st semester at UDel.  Alexa's year at Penn has been filled with amazing clinical experiences and her friendships have grown plentiful and stronger.  And she liked her Summer Job enough to continue it as a PRN position through the year.  My project finally launched at work and, even though there are a lot of support tickets, it is going remarkably well from a meta, 10,000 foot view.  But life has also been overwhelming.  Mainly because of work, where the workload and stress has been getting to me more than I would like to admit.  In fact, Sarah and my jobs both have caused a bit of stress and,...

one hundred and TWO!

One of the advantages of the fact that Sarah and I have both worked in Higher Education since 2005 (I longer, but Sarah was working in the hospital before that) is that we almost always have the days off between Christmas and New Years.  Penn calls is our "Special Winter Holiday."  And the 364th day of 2022 was special indeed.  We drove, on 12/30/2022, to Richland, PA.  Sarah's first home town (for six weeks) and the home of Sara Weaver, Sarah's maternal grandmother and Alexa and Anna's GREAT grandma!  And my Two for 2022 for the 2nd to last day of 2022 is one hundred and TWO!  Because that is how old GG Weaver is.  10 2 !!!  And she is still living in her own home, the home she has lived in since 1952 (yes, SEVENTY years).  We are so blessed to have four (and now, with Rocco, FIVE) generations together on the Weaver side of the family.  As this turbulent year comes to an end, it was a double blessing to visit GG today and here's to many...

2 Days To Go

Image
The 363rd day of 2022 has come to an end.  And the last palindromic day was non-descript.  Holiday Tournament Basketball, watching some TV, and getting a little work done - nothing exciting on 12/29/2022.  As I get ready to turn in for the night, all I can think of is my Two for 2022 for tonight - 2 Days To Go (or should I say 2 Days 2 Go?)  Friday and Saturday and then we get a new start in 2023.  I know, I know, what really happens differently than the turn of a calendar page?  Honestly, I am not sure, but I am ready to find out.  2022 has been a lot (more on that for the post on 12/31), and I am ready to move on.

Christmas Break and the Holiday Tournament

Somewhere in the beginning of Alexa's basketball career, I took a liking to running the clock and the scoreboard.  And I followed her through Rec and Travel and Middle School and to even the High School where, for the past seven years, I have been running the clock and the scoreboard and now announcing for first the girls' basketball teams and now the boys' as well.  And on the 362nd day of 2022, we had my Two For 2022 for 12/28/2022, Christmas Break and the Holiday Tournament.  It was a fun afternoon and I am so glad I can continue to do this even as my kids are out of the School and on their way in college.  As I told the AD today, allows me to stay connected to the community and to the team parents, often my friend circle during the many sports seasons.  Roll Colls!

Two Bones at the Bank

For one of the last times in 2022, Skylar and I rolled up to the Citizen's Bank Drive-Thru in Haddon Heights on the 361st day of 2022.  Not sure if we will make it there by Noon on 12/31 (with the end of the year deposit), that may have to be made on 1/1/23 but, on 12/27/2022, we made it to the bank window and, as always, the wonderful tellers gave Skylar the two for 2022 for today - two bones at the bank.  Since the pandemic, all of my deposits have been at the Drive-Thru and and tellers have come to really enjoy Skylar (and she, them!)  Skylar wags her tail now approaching any Drive-Thru and drools on the side of the van and works her "smolder" look to them to get the extra treat.  I mean, she is one of the cutest dogs ever, so sure it works!  As the year comes to a close and my time as the depositor of the church's funds also is soon over, I will miss the folks at the bank, but I think Skylar will miss them more!

Christmas, Day 2

Image
Unlike most of modern society, the Christmas Season does not end of us on 12/25. That is why my two for 2022 for 12/26/2022 is Christmas, Day 2. No there were no turtle doves on the 360th day of 2022, but there was another family gathering with games, food, laughter, and love. And then there was The Original Grinch and Love Actually on the TV. The Christmas season continues, we have ten more days and I want to make the most of them!

Christmas and Presents

Christmas Day, #359 of 2022, was another day filled with family traditions.  We woke up on 12/25/2022 and hightailed it over to the NJ Walters' house for a family breakfast tradition and then, because we wake our kids on Christmas morning and not vice versa anymore, we opened our Two for 2022 AFTER the breakfast when we came back home.  Yes, the Two For 2022 for today is Christmas and Presents.  It's so much fun watching the kids open their presents even when we all know what they are going to get.  And Santa (Sarah?) always has some nice surprises for us.  I already had what I wanted for Christmas before I even ripped any paper or looked in any bag.  Having the girls back home from college has been a joy.  Enjoying Christmas very much!  MERRY CHRISTMAS, FB Family and Friends!
