Black Friday and the Movies

Image
Day #329 of 2022 is "Black Friday." And 11/25/2022 saw the Sherr Family carrying on a tradition in my life started YEARS ago when George and I used to see 3-4 movies every Friday after Thanksgiving.  My Two for 2022 is Black Friday and the Movies.  I've never liked the crush of mass shopping frenzy, and good movies are always out around the holidays.  It was great for this tradition to continue, and to spend time with the fam!  Nice!

Thanks & Giving

The two for 2022 for the 328th day of 2022 are simply: Thanks & Giving.  Because, on 11/24/2022, we were blessed to celebrate Thanksgiving with Family and Friends but all I could think of was how thankful I am for what we have in this life.  Sure, things can be rough at times, but I try to realize and focus on things for which to give thanks.  And giving, it is so important for us to give to others.  THIS is what the holiday season should be about.  So, giving thanks tonight to all that I have (and that includes my FB community) and trying to focus on giving, and how I can do it more and better.

Two Years......

Image
My two for 2022 for the 319th day of 2022 is Two Years........    It's been two years since the passing of this wonderful human.  It was the heart of the pandemic so we attended the Memorial Service online and there were no hugs.  But, for the remainder of the pandemic (and even since we have returned to work), I have worked at home with her obituary by my side.  On 11/15/2022, I honor and remember Silvia Dunn.  One of the brightest light humans you will ever find.  Her smile still makes me smile.  The memories of her caring for and about me while we were colleagues will never subside.  When I think of Silvia, I want to be kinder, I want to smile, I want to be a better person.  A bright light human taken from us too soon.

2nd Opinion

I am not going to focus on the obvious (yes, I know 11/8/2022 is Election Day) on the 312th day of 2022 and am going to celebrate my Two for 2022, the 2nd Opinion.  This morning, I got an appointment at Penn Ortho with the Chief of the Foot and Ankle Division.  And, guess what friends??, she does not think I should have surgery yet!  I have to admit, the prospect of surgery in the next few months has been terrifying me.  I am glad to think we may have non-surgical options to try.  Keep it tuned right here for updates, but tonight you can say a small prayer of thanks that I was able to get a 2nd opinion today, and that it was one I was hoping for.

Two Games Short

Image
Well the baseball season came to an end on the 309th day of 2022.  And my two for 2022 is Two Games Short.  There were a lot of hopes after the decisive win in Game 3 and the comeback in Game 1, but the Phillies lost Games 4 and 5 and home and, on 11/5/2022, Game 6.  But it was still a great season.  Ups and Downs for sure but the Post-Season was a whole lot of fun (even watching the frustrating Game 5 loss in CBP!)  Nobody thought the Phillies would even get this far, so I thank them for the ride and cannot wait until the next season.

Bivalent Booster

Image
My two for 2022 for the 308th day of 2022 is the Bivalent Booster.  Because, on 11/4/2022, I got one!  I am not going to lie, my feelings towards Penn these days, for many reasons, have been mixed, but I have so much appreciation for the people in PennCares and Penn Wellness and Penn HR (who footed the bill for all Faculty and Staff AND any dependents) who made this clinic possible.  I had a PTO day today, but I volunteered to help (I am usually a traffic cone/cop) and, during my shift, got one myself.  Now I have all my shots AND NOW THREE boosters.  And today's, thank goodness, was BI-valent!
