36 years, 13 office spaces

 


Sarah and I found ourselves on the Penn Campus in the evening of the 211th day of 2022.  We first tried out El Taco, the new place on campus in the old Gia Pronto spot on the Stouffer Triangle (verdict - will go again!) and then for the real reason we crossed the bridge into Philly on 7/30/2022.  We closed me out of the NGSS Annex Office I have been in for the past few years.  It started out great, a collaborative and productive space with huddle rooms and chances for the SMEs and Analysts to work in close proximity.  And then came Covid and now the project is, basically, 100% remote.  So, for those of us who still have campus offices, it's back to those offices we go and I DO like my office in Suite 200 of the FB (my third of four offices to which I now return since I left Nursing).  But it made me realize my two for 2022 for tonight: 36 years, 13 office spaces.  I have been on campus for 36 years (fully 36 years in a month) and I have had:

  1. Dining Services - 3800 Locust Walk
  2. PennCard Center - 3401 Walnut Street, Suite 323A
  3. Dining Services - 3401 Walnut Street, Suite 323A (on the other side of the cubicle wall - LOL)
  4. Dining Services - 220 S. 40th Street
  5. Dining Services - 220 S. 40th Street (after the outsourcing when they moved us down the hall)
  6. Nursing School - Cubicle in NEB Suite 460 (where I sat adjacent to Nicole Maloy, the most musical of all my office spaces)
  7. Nursing School - Cubicle in NEB Suite 480 (where I got rained on a few times)
  8. Nursing School - Fagin Hall, Suite M-18, smaller office
  9. Nursing School - Fagin Hall, Suite M-18, corner office (where I finally got organized in time for the move to...)
  10. SRFS/NGSS - Basement, FB, B-16
  11. SRFS/Registrar's Office - FB, Room 150
  12. SRFS/NGSS - FB, Suite 200 (where I am now back again, happily!)
  13. SRFS/NGSS - FB Annex, P221, Room 230
If you know me, you know I do NOT like to move.  So I hope I am back in #12 for a long while.  And, yes, I still have my red, Swingline stapler!

Facebook and Memories

  I know a lot of people who have given up on Social Media.  And, yes, I concur that the FB business model is filled with issues and shadiness.  But, on a rough day at work on 4/20/2022, I looked at my FB feed and a memory came up that made me beam with joy.  You all probably can see the memory below, on the 110th day of 2022, of when Alexa hit two homeruns in a softball game and Sarah got them both on video and Collingswood won 13-7.  Well, it was not a lot, but it got me through today with a smile on my face.  So I have thanks for my two for 2022 for tonight, Facebook and Memories.  Days like today are what keep me on the platform (well that and my need for this nightly reflection!)  Good Night all and may your memories be happy!

UD and Family Weekend

What a day the 274th day of 2022 has been.  Started off, where Anna was LAST year at the PTA Mum Sale for Collingswood High School.  A cold and wet sale that, although it did not sell as many we had hope we would, but the teamwork, camaraderie, and good humor amongst the myriad of volunteers made the time go fast (except for 7-9AM :-) ).  THEN, it was on to where Anna is now, and the Two for 2022 for 10/1/2022: UD and Family Weekend!  The Delaware Football Team won and is 5-0.  We got to see Kassidy and the Presses, I finally got to see Anna's dorm room (it looks really nice!), meet Anna's roommates, and check out the campus when students are actually present.  And we capped off the evening with some shopping, and dinner, at the Christiana Mall.  Anna seems to be really enjoying her time at UD and I am proud of her for her hard work and pursual of a career in K-6 education.  It was also really neat to see Family Weekend from another side, at a dif...
